Accessibility Statement
How to use this portal with assistive technology, and how to report a barrier.
Last reviewed: September 2026
Our commitment
City of Cranston is committed to making public records accessible to everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, voice input, screen magnification, captioning, and other assistive technology. Our target standard for this portal is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the same standard the U.S. Department of Justice's rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sets for state and local government websites.
Product accessibility
For CivicRecordsOnline's accessibility target, current efforts and known limitations, read the product accessibility statement. It describes ongoing work and is not a certification that every page or released file conforms.
Known limitations
Some records released through this portal originate as scanned paper, photos, handwritten notes, maps, or third-party files. When a page is redacted, the text that was not covered stays selectable and searchable in the released copy — but a record that arrived as a flat scan has no text layer to preserve, so certain source materials may not be fully accessible at release. Common examples include scanned documents without selectable text, photographs and maps where the meaning is visual, and files produced by other organizations. If you need an accessible alternative for a specific released record, contact City of Cranston directly using the details below and we'll work with you to provide the information in a usable format.
Report a barrier
If something on this portal isn't working for you, please let us know. The more detail you can share — the page address, what you were trying to do, the assistive technology you were using, and your preferred format for receiving the information — the faster we can respond.
Portal software issues
If you've hit a barrier that looks like a problem with the portal software itself rather than a specific record, you can also report it to the portal provider at [email protected]. The provider reviews accessibility reports and responds as reasonably practicable, and treats confirmed barriers in the portal software as defects to fix.
